CAUFIELD, 2005 - Me & Maureen Doherty
CAUFIELD, 2006-2007 - Me & Yasmine Tanriverdi

By 2005, I’d made a number of recordings either by myself or with the basic band set-up - solo vocals, guitars, organ, bass and drums, and was restless to try something different. I’d scheduled a solo show and decided to sing "Love Hurts" in the Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris arrangement. I’d become acquainted with Maureen Doherty, a singer who was moonlighting as a waitress at a nearby comedy club. We learned the song, and when we performed it later that week, it received the biggest applause by far. Also, I’d really enjoyed working out the harmonies, and loved the resulting sound. I started listening to some of the great harmony duos such and became intrigued by the idea of a man and woman expressing something together, and from 2005 - 2007 recorded 3 albums in this style. I made the first one, "Falling Short of Utopia" with Maureen. Next I worked with Yasmine Tanriverdi, a singer originally from Germany. Her voice blended great with mine, and together we made "Leave Tonight" in 2006, and "Once Upon A Time In L.A." in 2007. I don’t know when or if I’ll return to this sound, but I’m proud of these 3 albums and feel they contain some of the best music I’ve made.
